Overview
The Super Visa allows parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens or permanent residents to visit Canada for up to 5 years per entry.
It is a multiple-entry visa valid for up to 10 years.
Designed for long stays without needing frequent extensions.
Eligibility Requirements
Relationship
Must be the parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.
Invitation Letter from Child/Grandchild in Canada
Promise of financial support for the entire visit.
List and number of people in the sponsor’s household.
Proof of status in Canada: copy of Canadian citizenship or PR document.
Medical Insurance (from a Canadian insurer)
Valid for at least 1 year from the date of entry.
Minimum emergency coverage of $100,000.
Must be fully paid; quotes are not accepted.
Admissibility and Location
Apply from outside Canada.
Not be inadmissible to Canada (criminality, medical, or other grounds).
Pass an immigration medical exam (IME), if required.
Financial Support Thresholds
Sponsor in Canada must meet income requirements (e.g., LICO) to support the visitor.

Proof of relationship (birth certificates, family registry)
Sponsor’s proof of status (PR card or Canadian passport) and proof of income
Proof of Canadian medical insurance (paid in full, 1-year minimum, $100,000+ coverage)

After Approval
Enter Canada and receive authorized stay (up to 5 years per entry).
Keep insurance active for the entire stay; renew before expiry if needed.
For longer presence, exit and re-enter as permitted within visa validity (up to 10 years).
