The Nepalese Canadian Cricket Club is entering a new phase as the organization expands into a nationwide cricket structure across Canada.
Founded in 2017 the club started with a simple goal of creating opportunities for Nepalese cricket players in the Greater Toronto Area. What began with a small group of community members and a budget of only $600 has now grown into one of the most active Nepalese cricket organizations in Canada.
The organization was established under the leadership of Imran Asgar along with several founding board members and community supporters who helped build the club during its early years.
NCCC faced many challenges in the beginning but continued to grow through community support volunteer efforts and player dedication. A major milestone came in 2022 when the organization helped coordinate ODI and T20 international matches between Nepal and Canada together with community organizations across the country.
Today NCCC has expanded into six city teams as part of its long term cricket development plan.

Two additional city teams are also expected to be announced in the future.
The Mississauga team currently competes in Division 1 Pro while Scarborough and Brampton continue developing players through Division 2 and Division 3 competition pathways.
Over the years the club has continued to grow both on and off the field. NCCC currently has support from 31 sponsors along with city funding partnerships. The organization has around 160 registered players including 72 active competitive players across different divisions and programs.
The club also follows a year round cricket calendar.
From January to April NCCC organises free indoor training programs with weekly coaching fitness sessions and player development activities. The indoor season ends with the NCC Indoor Tournament held in April.
During the summer season from May to September teams participate in multiple cricket leagues across Ontario. One of the club’s major annual events is the NCC Cup tournament held every August.
NCCC also focuses on community and cultural connection. In October the organization hosts Dashain Tihar and Diwali celebrations with players families and supporters. November is dedicated to annual awards and sponsor recognition while December focuses on planning and preparation for the next season.
The organization is also working on several future projects including an Under-19 program a women’s cricket team an indoor training centre and a dedicated cricket ground. The club also plans to expand its city structure and strengthen youth development pathways across Canada.
Current President Binay Yadav says the organization wants to create long term opportunities for the Nepalese community through cricket and leadership development.
According to the club one of its long term goals is to help develop a Nepali-origin player who can one day represent Team Canada.
Beyond cricket NCCC has also become a platform for friendship youth leadership and cultural preservation within the Nepalese Canadian community. Through sports and community programs the organization continues to build strong connections between Nepalese families and young athletes across Canada.
From its early beginnings in 2017 to its growing national structure today the Nepalese Canadian Cricket Club continues to play an important role in the development of Nepalese cricket in Canada.
